Has the technology advanced enough that I can use a mobile hot spot for a tv/tailgate setup on campus for football gameday? I tried that a few years back and it was still a no go. Anyone else have a different experience now?

Unless the area has fully capable real 5G, I really doubt it. It didn't last year, and the congestion of too many people makes the networks bad. I will try with my 5G AT&T hotspot this weekend.

Your best bet for good internet would be StarLink.

+1. Starlink works great.

Not on cell tower connections. The data bandwidth on those during gameday is trash.

Dish tailgater works great.

I used my AT&T mobile hotspot on my phone, a fire stick plugged into a 40" TV, and streamed using DirecTV Stream for the entire TCU/Colorado game and then most of Boise State/Washington on Saturday. Had almost zero buffering and a good picture. We were in the Reed parking lot all day.

We had an antenna with us just in case it was a failure since both those games were on local channels, but we were pleasantly surprised and never switched over to the antenna. I'm sure it's a your mileage may vary sort of situation, but it worked wonderfully for me Saturday.

Yeah, I usually use a hot spot, but I am a little worried about getting a signal for the game/s on Saturday.
