Looking for recommendations for a hosting service or server we can use for QuickBooks desktop that can be accessed remotely?

How often are you going to need to remote into it? Who is doing the remoting in? Will you need to upgrade in the near future and it would be worth transitioning to QBO, even desktop is now a subscription.

Office manager works from home few days a week that will need to remote login. We've looked into QBO and according to QB all of our current desktop information will not transfer over.

I used a company called Ace Cloud Computing for several years when this was the standard for running QB. At that time it cost me about $165/month including a lease of QBD and an Excel plugin.

I do concur with the idea of QBO. I don't know what they told you for data migration so I can't comment there but I will say I've done probably two dozen QBD to QBO migrations and regardless of timeline not one client has noticed any info they needed having not been ported.

I will also say there are ways to import large volumes data into QBO so if the worry here is significant then look into those options. Maybe you could export into Excel what won't migrate directly then import the rest. I use a product called SAASANT to import hundreds of transactions a week into QBO so I can speak to its reliability.
The federal government was never meant to be this powerful.

We're still on Right Networks and have been for probably 5-6 years. If you call them they'll usually knock off 5-10% from what you see online.

Why can't she RDP into her work computer? For not cloud-based apps, our remote works remote into their work PC's.

Opening up an accounting PC to RDP connections would make me a little uncomfortable. I would rather let a company that is used to securing this kind of data as it goes across the internet take care of that security.

Our staff uses Connectwise for remote access and control of devices. This is not just an open RDP connection, but is fully encrypted and can be setup with MFA.

We use this not only to support our clients remotely, but also for our internal users who need to connect back to their work PCs.

EDIT: Also, if you are that security conscious, then I'm assuming you have an IT company to support your EDR and email security. Do they not have a solution for you?

If you do not, then a simple RDP session is the least of your worries, from a security standpoint.

You can enable rdp locally and use tailscale for encrypted transport and use mfa if desired. No opening firewall ports required.

There are obviously lots of more advanced solutions with better security. I was pretty much just talking about RDP specifically. I think its the kind of thing that is a little dangerous because it is easy to set it up in an insecure way.

There are people scanning for open RDP ports across the internet all the time for a reason.

Look at CITOC in Houston. They host QB for a bunch of companies.

How about Splashtop desktop? It is like LogmeIn or TeamViewer where you can remotely access your pc. I think access with Splashtop is like $60 per year.
