How to slow down spam calls AND still utilize Google Voice/transcription of vmail

How long do you want to ignore this user?
Spam calls are going nuts, especially at election time. I resorted to having my phone on DND 24/7 to stop being annoyed.

I'd really like to use one of the Spam Blocker apps but that would entail me giving up routing my voicemail through Google Voice - which I only use because it transcribes my voicemail to an email (very handy!).

Is there a service that does both (spam blocker and voicemail transcribe to email)? I'd hate to have to take two steps backwards and "listen" to voicemails instead of easily scanning the text transcript (much faster).

My service is Verizon. Maybe they do such a thing but I doubt they have a spam blocker.

Thanks!

Don't know about a service but my pixel 6 has spam blocker, auto answer and voicemail to text automatically. It also screens spam texts too.

as stated Pixel devices have a built in spam blocker and you could always switch to Fi which will give you the transcriptions via text in the phone app or on the web at messages.google.com

Robokiller has a way to do it

Just turn your ringer off for callers that aren't in your address book.

It is impossible to block spam callers unless you use a "whitelist" method, like lb3 mentioned.

The probablem with these spam callers is that they are spoofing numbers. It's not like someone is taking their one 10-digit number they were assigned from AT&T and then calling everyone in the world from it. They are masking their numbers with legit personal and business numbers when they call people.

The sad thing is people like us who get those spam calls then flag them as spam. This makes AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, etc flag that number as a possible robo or spam call. However, the number actually may belong to a legit business, and now all their clients/customers start seeing "Spam Risk" when they call them.

It really is a shame this is such a problem.

Edit: Another way to stop robo calls, though, is generally making them make a selection during the call. At our company, we changed our call queues from accepting any call when they dial those numbers to require the caller to make a selection for the department they wanted. Killed the robo calls.

The Google pixel phones have this option too, basically a call screening that answers the call and requires the caller to answer a question or two while showing you the transcript and letting you choose how to respond. It's pretty handy.
