I bought a Samsung 4.1 soundbar at Walmart last week. Sounds great to my old ears. When I was looking I went to the Best Buy website and they had the exact same thing at a higher price so I bought it at Wally. The difference between the two is the model number. The Walmart I bought is HW-B47M which product registered fine on the Samsung website though not shown. The Best Buy model is HW-A47M and is shown on the Samsung website. Does anyone know why the difference in the numbers? My wife said it may be so the retailers don't have to price match which would make sense. Would appreciate input.

LOL, it's ok, she gives me my fair share too.

Not sure of soindbars specifically, but know on other things Sam's and Costco (so probably Walmart too) can have products built specifically for them that have special model numbers.

Years ago in the market for a lawnmower and research suggested that the Honda model at Sam's was actually quite different from those available at other retailers at a higher price. The Sam's model apparently had lower quality parts. Can't verify that, but it kept me from buying the Sam's one at the time.

Walmart sells both looks like to me. From what I can tell from the samsung website, the A is the 2021 model and the B is the 2022 model. No idea why the 2022 model would cost less than the 2021 though...

I do recall noticing the year differences briefly but didn't really pay attention. Thanks.

I have noticed the same thing when shopping for TVs, sometimes the one letter difference and same numbers is a Wal Mart or Costco exclusive, which usually has the same specs, don't know if it "comes off a separate line" or not parts-wise etc
