OK, looking to add some LED strip lighting around perimeter of game room at top of wall at ceiling.

I'm seeing a wide range of reviews out there....some don't last long, others are much brighter at the beginning of the strip than at the end (for even just a 50 footer).

Anyone had any good luck with something like this? What brand, length, etc did you use and where did you buy from?

Thanks in advance.

What are you looking for?

Single color? temperature adjustable? RGB? Pixel lights?

At work, we have used https://www.environmentallights.com/ a fair amount. Their products are excellent.

Nothing fancy......just be able to set it to a static color from a basic choice of colors.
temperature would be nice but not a deal breaker.

Thanks

Environmental Lights may be a bit further into the commercial market than what you're looking for. Their strips are excellent but cost ~$5/foot vs ~$0.40/foot for a kit on Amazon. Then you need the mounting channels, LED drivers (power supplies), and controllers.

If lights aren't lasting very long it could be poor quality LEDs or more likely, they're overheating. Strip lights are often run in aluminum channels to help dissipate heat but the cheaper strips won't be using quality 3M adhesives and any section that delaminates from the aluminum is at a much higher risk of overheating.

The light strips should have a spec sheet that should tell you how long of a strip you can run. Some are only good for 5 meters, others for 20 meters. Most strips can be powered from either end which can be useful. If you're running a longer strip than recommended and see noticeable dimming at the end of the string, placing the positive wire on one end and the negatives on the opposite end.
