Would the 3060ti be a worthwhile upgrade given current GPU prices, I have an Aorus 3060ti waiting for me at Best Buy and I'm trying to figure out whether to pick it up or return it. $752 after taxes. I'm leaning towards returning it, I play mostly older titles, and schmups but I'm afraid I won't be able to get one again for a while if I skip it.

Also have a Steam Deck reserved and should be able to buy within a month or two

I decided to hold off and cancelled my order. Not sure if/ when they'll put it on the shelf but if you're in CS and need a card you might keep an eye out.

Not sure if you're set on nvidia, but AMD had their FE cards online for over half a day last week. 6700xt for $479

I say good call cancelling it. I try not to upgrade my graphics card until I can get 50% more performance, preferably 100%. I went from a 970 to a 3060ti about a year ago which was a huge upgrade, but looking at benchmarks the 2070 is only about ~15% behind it so not a good value for money unless you knew you could flip the 2070 for a lot.

I was going to grab a 3060 vs my 2070 but also cancelled my order. Realized it was not very different in terms of performance.

Going to wait for the 40 series cards or try to grab a 3080 once the prices come down a little more.

agreed. I went from a 970 to a 2070 Super and felt like it was a good jump to justify buying.

It can be a pain in the butt to get but if you are willing to try you could get a 3060ti FE card for $399.99 at Best Buy. The problem is knowing when they are selling FE cards and that everybody wants them.

the 3060 ti was reported to be on par with a 2080 ti.

Pretty sure they're also locked behind the $200 Best Buy total tech membership in order to even have a chance to buy one

This is the way to get a 30 series FE card from Best Buy.

During the cold months you can only get them online. It's a pain in the ass because they don't say when they are selling them and the cards will show as available but they may or may not be in your region ( they might have fixed this now since they have a new queue system). It is a bit more involved process and I have never been able to get one this way.

For the warmer months you can only get them in-store from certain locations. For example In Texas they are The Woodlands, Cedar Park, Arlington, Midland, Lubbock and San Antonio (La Cantera) BB locations. They are usually the only places they will have them in Texas but they did have a drop at the Houston Galleria location once before (that's where I got my 3060ti FE card). It is first come first serve so that means camping out in line. I don't know if they will do this anymore though. Last year a really bad fight broke out somewhere and people started blaming Best Buy.

I got notice today that a 3060ti(lhr) ftw3 was available from the evga queue i entered in late '20. I've offered to my circle of people and nobody wants me to order one for them.

If anyone's interested in BCS, I'm willing to grab this one and handoff at cost. The only bad thing is shipping whereas BB won't have that with store pickup. I have until tomorrow, 7th, morning to place an order.

The card is listed at $539 and total with shipping/tax is $607.

I'll delete post tomorrow after the queue closes.

Purchase windows closed.

My GTX 1070 feels so sad after looking at that chart.

My gaming laptop I bought off the shelf has a better GPU than my custom desktop at this point.

I stumbled into an Asus 3080 card at the Dallas Microcenter for $849.99 today... had another one left. They'd apparently just shown up today. It's crazy I felt like I hit the lotto for a card that's probably $100 over MSRP. A lot of people are talking themselves into waiting for the 4000 series later this year but there's enough going on in the world still affecting the GPU pricing/supply chain that makes me think it's going to be the same story with pricing/supply chain on that series.

I picked up an MSI Ventus GeForce RTX 3060 from NewEgg last week for $470 to replace my MSI GTX 970 purchased in 2015.

> MSI Ventus GeForce RTX 3060 12GB GDDR6 PCI Express 4.0 Video Card RTX 3060 Ventus 2X 12G OC

So far I really like it. May trade up later if a 970 ti becomes available at the right time.

Edit to say I've been casually checking to replace my 970 since the Fall of 2020, and this was the first time I found one that wasn't obscenely priced.

Also upgraded my primary monitor to one of these and is great (I use a desk mount adjustable dual monitor stand, so the cheep quality of the LG stand wasn't an issue for me)

Amazon has the ASUS TUF-RTX3070TI-O8G-GAMING going in and out of stock for $699 (but ship date is a month out). So more evidence that OP made the right call not buying that 3060ti since less than two weeks later you can now get a 3070ti for the same price.

Picked up the Asus ROG Strix 3080 for 999 on Amazon. Also had gift cards that made it about 650 out the door. Too good for me to pass up. I could have waited for other cards, but was happy with the jump this would be from my 2070.

Things are definitely improving on the market for GPUs. Starting to see more and more availability and prices coming back down to earth a bit.

Nice pickup. I'm building a new gaming desktop for the first time in forever. Have been moderately gaming on a laptop with a mobile 1050ti because of kids and life for the past few years... so just imagine the upgrade I'm about to have moving to a 3080 haha.

Yeah it will be a crazy but good experience for you and you will see a huge difference. I'm updating my gaming/at home build. Not going too crazy but updating across the board.

For anyone still looking for a 3080, I can match that price for a MSI 3080 Ventus 3X Plus, but it won't be free shipping. Although if you're outside TX, it will (likely) be tax free. You'll have to mention this post though because my current retail price is $1,100.
