So my 5 year old Canon bit the dust. Worst machine I have ever bought.

Looking for reccomendations for a home office printer that is between 200-400 bucks. Not real concerned with bells and whistles, more on reliability than anything. The only thing that comes to mind as a must have is 2 sided scanning and 2 sided printing. Wifi isnt really important, but it seems they all have that.

My Samsung has been the best printer I've ever owned (of almost a dozen or more) including the older Canons (and Canon made HPs) which were all bullet proof. However, I see they are pricier than they used to be. The only thing is, I don't use mine much anymore.

I might suggest that you a) up your budget a little and b) think about a document scanner separate from a printer and just do a basic Samsung printer that will do double sided (which they all will). It will cost more but both will last a long time. The only issue I've really had with mine is that it can be a little quirky to do scanning on the Mac. Other than that, its been fine and I think I got it in 2015 or so. But if I need a lot of copies or prints (rare these days) I go to whatever Kinkos has become.

Good point. I have a large format scanner, so I am thinking more along the lines of a large set of documents and getting it scanned faster if the machine is 2 sided equipped. I live in a small CO town that is 100 miles from the nearest Kinkos type place, so not an option in a hurry. Even our library has a crappy printer/scanner setup.

Anyone know anything about these?

We bought a wifi connected brother color laser printer. Been very happy with it.

Worth the extra few bucks to get color and I'll never buy another inkjet printer. We had one before this and it never worked when you wanted it to as we don't print all that often.

I agree on never owning another inkjet.

Nothing wrong with inkjet, the problem is cartridges. Espon Ecotanks are great inkjet printers.

I have an HP Color Laser Jet Pro MFP M277dw. Freaking great printer, network connected, scanner, document feeder, etc.

Had it for several years and I use it almost daily.

I bought an Epson Workforce Pro WF-4730 a few years ago and it's been great. It was on sale for $129, probably a bit more now.

get a laserjet cheap and have all the features you need. dont mess with the inklet cartidges unless you print a ton which will keep them working and not gum up with inactivity. Pay more for color if you need that but mine is not color and I spent like 130 bux on amazon. its been great

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Fujitsu ScanSnap ix1600 high speed scanner. It's f'ing badass. I went completely paperless over the Christmas break using it. It's about $400 and worth every penny. Does 2 sides automatically. And it has a small footprint. It's only 11x5x6 inches.

If you have to have a printer I would still recommend getting this scanner and then maybe you can find a pure printer that is better than a printer/scanner combo? Not sure if they make pure printers anymore but if they do maybe they are better than the combos.
