I'm looking to get a new chair to use while I work remotely, as my previous chair was cheap and starting to fall apart.

Budget is around $150, preferably mesh.

What do y'all suggest?

I have the Herman Miller Aeron chair but there are more budget friendly options out there.

Hers is a nice review: https://www.tomsguide.com/best-picks/best-office-chairs

I doubt you get many recs in that price range, unfortunately. I'm in a Herman Miller Mirra 2, which you can find used for around $250.

Madison Seating does used/refurb chairs and you get a pretty wide selection. I've bought from there 2x and been happy both times. When you spend more hours in the chair than in your bed, spending on the chair makes a lot of sense.

Yeah, I would submit you can't find a good enough chair in that price range if you have existing back issues. I do, so I splurged bigly on mine and it's been one of the best investments I've ever made.

I think there are good $150 chairs. I just don't think the probability of finding one that fits you well is going to be very high. If you end up going through 3 budget chairs before finding the right one, you likely would have been better off with a Herman Miller chair.

Do a search for gamer chairs. Some of the high end ones in the 200-250 range make decent budget office chairs.

Looking at their site now, reading some reviews and open box means there can be minor cosmetic things. How were your's?

Had to replace the cylinder on 1 of them after about a month, but that's no biggie. Other one was obviously used (minor scuffs on wheel base, and seat had minor staining. Steam cleaned it and most of the stain came out.

You basically get what you'd get in an office anyway (a chair someone else used for some period of time), so for me it's the same thing.

I got a Dexley from Staples before I started working from home and spending a lot of time in it. Thought I would have wanted a better chair by now, but still comfortable after WFH for a year and a half now.
