Probably a stupid question, but Google Fiber is coming to my area, and I need to decide if it is worth the logistical hassle to convert from AT&T "high speed" (but not fiber optic) service.

The Google salesman came by the house and put on a real aggressive sales pitch, which I didn't like much.

Any opinions one way or the other on Google Fiber vs. AT&T?

I wish I had Google Fiber as an option instead of AT&T or Spectrum. The upload alone would be worth the hassle to me over the max 40mbps upload I have right now from the two options I'm stuck with.

I have google fiber in salt lake city. Just ran a fast.com test and got 160mbs (wifi 6 mesh router).

I'm in Austin and have had it for several years.

Worked well in kc when I had it. I'd just do a cost analysis and if you hate your att product.

I have it in San Antonio, it's outstanding.

From my experience (AT&T Fiber at home, Google Fiber at a previous office, both in Austin) any fiber option you can get is blazing fast. We had some occasional issues with Google Fiber but I think that was more installation/hardware related, was also a few years ago when the service was pretty new.

Speedtest from my phone just gave me 300 down/300 up.

Wow, I thought Google Fiber had stopped expanding years ago.

I stopped keeping up with it once AT&T fiber became available. I get 300mbps up and down for about $40/month.

I'm pretty sure AT&T hijacked an iron water main for my internet. I'm not sure what is worse, the wildly inconsistent speeds when it is working, or the fact that I have to call them out every four months to fiddle with the node so it will work at all.

Literally in our easement 10' from our building in Oak Hill and we still cannot get it. My business and the owner are the only tenets so I guess it just wasn't worth it for them even though widely available at residences in the immediate area. They did finally refund my $10 deposit a year or two ago though. Their subs also busted our water main more than once ... Terrible

I have AT&T fiber. If you are plugged into the router, speeds are amazingly fast. On wifi I average 400mbps up and down on my laptop.
