I have several codes to now go and claim my digital copy of a movie. Most of them are through Disney where you got the Blu-Ray, DVD and Digital Copy. It seems like a great idea to be able to take a digital copy of your movies any where you go instead of needing a DVD player.

The question being, how do you typically handle this? Do you use Movies Anywhere? A Different Service to redeem the code? Would I always need an internet connection to view the movies? Should I even bother?

Sorry for the noob questions, but I have always just used the disk, so any guidance you could provide would be useful.

Do you have a default place you redeem all of your movies? Movies Anywhere looks up movies from other services you have movies on and allows you to watch them. The best place is Movies Anywhere, but if you have a place where most of your library is then use that if it's compatible with Movies Anywhere. For example mine would be Apple so I would redeem that movie through Apple if offered because it's gonna show up on Movies Anywhere. You don't have to do this but I see it as a form of redundancy, but there's nothing really redundant about it. Though I don't know if the 4K content transfers from Apple to Movies Anywhere.

I have no digital movies currently. I have PC Laptops although I do have iTunes. I also have android phones where I have my Google Play account. Mainly, I am just trying to do a little research before I redeem all of these and then regret where i have them stored.

Most of the time, the code in the movie package will tell you what site to redeem the code on. MoviesAnywhere has combined quite a few of them now, notably Disney and Vudu. I usually use the app on an iPad and you can download the movie onto the device so you can watch it without an internet connection. You can do the same on an iPhone or Android device.

I have movies on Amazon VOD, VUDU, Ultraviolet HD, Sony Pictures Store, Google Play, Apple and Movies Anywhere. Movies Anywhere has been my favorite with VUDU and Ultraviolet HD a close second and third. Some of my VUDU movies won't transfer to Movies Anywhere, which keeps from using it exclusively. They all seem pretty similar to me in terms of quality. Use what's most convenient.

Movies Anywhere is the way to go. Previously, there was Ultraviolet, that was more of a guarantee of
license rights" to movies, and it involved several services. At its core, it was just a single interface into all your movies based on your accounts with different services. Basically, if you had a movie on Flixster, UV would just send you out to Flixster when you wanted to watch it. This was not very useful, it was mostly a guarantee of license rights. Notably absent from this was itunes, which had the exclusive deal with Disney.

With Movies Anywhere, it actually syncs all your movies between the services, and it includes Disney and itunes. When you sign up for MA, and link your accounts, you'll actually see your Amazon Prime movies show up on Google Play movies. This is fantastic, because now all those Disney movies that were locked away on itunes are now available on all your services.

When you redeem your movies, you should use Movies Anywhere if its available. If it's not, you should use Google Play, itunes, Amazon Prime, or Vudu instead, because these will sync with each other and you can watch it on any platform. Let me clarify that I can only confirm the sync to Google and Amazon. Movies that I had on other services now show up in both of these also, I haven't looked at Vudu or itunes
