I couldn't find the old Grim Dawn thread so it must be more than a year old at this point, but I figured it was worth letting any Diablo/Action-RPG fans who haven't been paying attention here know that the first Grim Dawn expansion hit last week and is getting rave reviews.

Adds 2 new character classes and 2 entirely new acts among many other additions. I started a Cabalist (Necromancer plus Occultist) to play through fresh and have made my way to the start of Act IV at level 45 so I haven't even tapped into the either of the new acts yet but so far the Necromancer just annihilates everything, been really enjoying him. My buddy I play with started an Inquisitor (the other new class) and has really enjoyed him as well, more of a ranged class.

Didn't realize it's been a year since I played last

The current D3 team did an admirable job cleaning up the mess that Diablo 3 vanilla was... But as a die hard Diablo I and II fan, Grim Dawn has been way closer to what Diablo 3 should have been. I'd call it more a Diablo 2.5 and that's a major compliment in my world.

Bought it today, $15 in my steam wallet made it less than $3. Couldn't resist, now to find a new build!

I finally tapped into the expansion acts last night. Made it to the first town and the first new act setting is awesome, I won't spoil anything. Up to level 49 on my Cabalist and still loving him.

My buddy went ranged Purifier (Inquisitor/Demolitionist) and has been putting out some incredible damage numbers while my skeleton army occupies everything. It's been a brutal combo. So I think pairing either of the new classes with something that synergizes well will be enjoyable.

I was a huge Necro fanboy on Diablo II so I felt like I had to make a full blown summoner as my first character on this expansion, but the Necro has a lot of very fun looking cold spells and cold conversions that I get the feeling a Necro/Nightblade would be badass. Plus that class is called Reaper so it almost has to be awesome by default, right?

Still running my commando (Demolitionist + Soldier) and am at level 82. I'm curious if the Purifier (Demo + Inquisitor) is actually better.

Do you guys have the Crucible DLC? Is it really easy to get lengendaries and worth buying?

I'm up to level 62 and in Act 2 Elite on my Cabalist. Yes, pets freaking everywhere and it's awesome. I loved the expansion content, both of the new acts were pretty damn cool.

I do have the Crucible DLC and it was by far the best way to gear up your character in vanilla Grim Dawn so I would say yes it's absolutely worth a purchase. I haven't played it since the expansion dropped but I would assume it would still be the same. I've got a pretty good group of gamer friends who all play Grim Dawn and when you've got a group of 3 or 4 that can really push the limits of Crucible you wind up getting like 4-6 legendaries per Crucible run. Again, that was all vanilla GD but I assume it's the same. I think they even added a new arena with the expansion's release.

Started up a new conjurer (Occultist/Shaman) build since they changed it so much. Working my way back through the story line and leveling up. Haven't hit the new content yet. Pretty fun stuff.

Started up a Necro / Arcanist yesterday to gear up for heavy Aether damage. Will see how that goes.

The base game is on sale for $8.49 currently which is an absolute steal, but only for another 45 minutes. Sorry for the late notice, but better late than never I suppose.

Hagen95 and I beat Malmouth last week. That last area with the visuals and the sounds, yikes!
