Lightning strike fried it according to dtv guy. Got it working with component adapter but need hdmi for Apple TV. Anybody ever do this? Could I just buy a new board and swap it out. 60 inch tv. Afraid to take it off mounts.

Instead of replacing the HDMI port, maybe you can buy a composite-to-HDMI adapter & use the RCA plugs.

Buy a new board and swap it, super easy. A lightning strike fried my Samsung tv in my kitchen the other day. I found all the guts on eBay for $30 and swapped them all and had it going in about 15 minutes. If it's only your hdmi port, you probably just need to swap the main board. Your power board is probably okay. Did you have it plugged into coax? I think that's what got mine.

Yeah, coax. Do I need to take tv off mounts to change or can I just slide bottom forward after pulling ropes? I'm nervous about taking off mounts. 70 inch tv.

You'll have to pull the back cover off completely. Need to lay tv face down on flat surface. Also Google and YouTube ate your friend. I'd try looking up the model number to see if there are guides. Especially if it's a super thin tv and not your run if the mill lcd.
