Roku in a hotel

After some water damage we have moved into a hotel for a few weeks.

Any hacks for connecting to wifi on a Roku? I can select the network but I am never given an option to enter a password.

Also on one of the TVs (a Samsung) there is no option to change inputs. Ive tried other Samsung remotes and there are not buttons on the TV. These are very first world problems but with a 3 year old things would be much easier.

Is there another temporary internet option that wouldn't involve the Marriott wifi?

You need a browser of some kind. See if there is one installed or if ones available in the app store on the device. You may need to share your phone internet or somewhere that its open without the browser requirement to get the app. Google brings up "casting" your device too but I didnt look into this much.

Another option is to spoof the MAC address of your ROKU using a Linux VM, authenticate though a web browser in the VM, then shut it down and connect the Roku.

What Roku are you running?

I have Roku stick that when I was in the hotel earlier this year, would ask if it was a Hotel/Dorm WiFi network, and then have my phone connect to a Roku-device-provided WiFi hotspot, which would then reconnect to the hotel WiFi, and show the Login page. Once logged in on the phone, the network details were then in the Roku and it worked perfectly.

It may be a newer software version, or only certain ones that do it. Edit: It appears that only the Original Roku 1 can't do this.

Also you can create a Wi-Fi network off of your laptop, which will already be connected to the hotels Wi-Fi.

There should be a pamphlet somewhere in the room that says who is providing the internet (it's likely not the hotel). Just call that number and explain that you're trying to connect your roku. They'll ask for the MAC address of the device and how long you're staying. Problem solved. You're now on hotel wifi. I've done this multiple times in different hotels.

For changing inputs, there's sometimes a hotel mode that you can put TVs in that restricts settings. Only way to revert it is to get the remote for the TV and put in the service menu code for that model.

I considered this back when I traveled a bunch but I never had good enough hotel wifi to even stream videos on the phone.
