Well the most recent lightning storm fried my Sony soundbar that I had been using the past couple of years. It was even on a surge protector. Oh well. Time for a new one!

In your opinion what is the best soundbar for an average sized living room? My old Sony had a sub with it, but I'm not sure I really need it. What is the best all-in-one soundbar for the money?

It appears like soundbars are either $99 or $299 or $699+...and I'm not sure how much noticeable the differences are.

For example, I've had my eye on these...

Samsung Electronics Sound+ Premium Soundbar (HW-MS650/ZA)

Bose Solo 5

Bose Sound Touch 300

Yea, the prices are all over the map.

First, who was the surge maker? Lots have damage coverage if something gets fried while protected by it. I have a few Monster surges for my systems specifically for that.

Second, the Vizio bars are good quality and you can usually see them in store at Sams/Costco. I have the 54"ish 5.1 bar kit with wireless sub that feeds the 2 rear speakers. Works fantastic for my large living room that has a 30ish foot ceiling. There in the 200's i think price wise.

Edit: this is my model https://www.amazon.com/VIZIO-S5451w-C2-54-Inch-Subwoofer-Surrounds/dp/B00GSJROBA

I have one of those systems and it's a great little system. We're using it in a 3.1 format right now until we move. The surrounds are a little under powered but not bad. For the price it's a great bar.
