I am completely green to this whole idea/concept of cutting cable. That being said, I spend a stupid amount of money on cable that my wife and I barely watch. Mostly what we watch is live sports, a few shows here and there & netflix. HBO is big for us but if that's not an option, it wouldn't be a deal breaker. I keep hearing about roku but Im not sure i understand it. Can you watch live stream? or is it like hulu, where you watch after it is released on cable? We are looking to watch from 3 tvs throughout the house.

I appreciate any advise!

I just cut the cord. Good tip is to go over all of your bills and research all the available internet providers in your area. Find the best speeds for the best price. My parents upgraded from 45mbps to 1gbps for $20 more with AT&T, under contract though. See what the prices are without contract too. You'll want internet that can support three streams at once. Then research streaming providers: PlayStation Vue, SlingTV, DirecTV Now, etc and find the plan that fits what you watch at a good price. You may have to make some sacrifices on Channels for features, don't worry some of these providers will make deals and get the channels you want later. Then look into streaming devices that support the streaming provider you choose: Roku, Amazon Fire Stick, Apple TV, ChromeCast, etc.

My parents upgraded to Unlimited AT&T Phone, so we get $25 off DirecTV Now, and free HBO. Dropped DirecTV for DirecTV Now with everything. Got a free Apple TV. And upgraded to Fiber for $80/mo for 1 yr which will go up to $130. They're saving about $100 a month than before. DirecTV with all the movie channels is $150/mo. DirecTV Now with all the movie channels is $85/mo. Crazy!
