So my brother wrote a book that he published on amazon as an ebook. My parents want to read it. Being 80, my mom would like to have an actual bound book that she can hold and read and show off to her friends.

What is the best way to get to get it printed for a reasonable cost?

Ask your brother if he can get a printed copy

Other than that, there is a way you can break the DRM on the kindle format, and load it into Calibre. From Calibre, you can print to pdf

I was looking for a service that can do one or two vanity prints

Like Shutterfly does for pictures

Doesn't address the OP but have you shown them a Kindle? With font size options and the e-ink, it's really a great reading experience.

I'm no help on printing an e book. Good luck!

I didn't realize she wanted a bound book. Check out createspace. It works with Amazon and they print books on demand

Oops, I missed that as well

My comments above won't produce a bound book, you may be able to find a place that will do that given a pdf or printed copy

Really, talk to your brother. He owns the IP, and is probably already connected to an editor or publisher who

I googled and found a few services that can do single copies (opposed to a larger order), you will probably need your brother's permission in writing

Consider talking to your local university. People still have their theses professionally bound sometimes, you may be able to use their service or get info on who they use to do that

Good call on the university angle. I'd ask the university library. The Medical Sciences Lib on campus would send their scholastic periodicals for binding regularly.
