For thsoe who aren't familiar with them, there is a company called Enchroma that makes glasses for the colorblnd. The glasses have a coating that acts to further separate the colors to make it easier for the color blind to distinguish colors.

That got me to thinking this morning about whether or not there are any color filter programs (video driver) that could be used to remap the color for computer monitors to provide a better separation for close colors.

I don't know.. but I suffer from this. I saw the enchroma glasses but don't want to spend $400 on something that I'm not sure will do much. I also heard that they only really work in bright sunlight.

I remember playing Wasteland on my Commodore 64. When you were in a city, the map would show blue and purple buildings. Can't remember which were which, but one of them you could NOT go in and the others were accessible, but I could only tell by trial and error.

My dad had a set of blu-blocker sunglasses that I tried on one time while looking at the screen. BAM! the two building colors were now distinguishable to me. Not in blue or purple, but there was a difference in shades. so I looked like a bigger nerd playing Wasteland while wearing blu-blocker sunglasses.

Also remember renting a game from Floppy Joes (Culpepper Plaza) that had one of those copy-protection wheels with multiple-concentric rings. The game would randomly show three colored squares and you had to line those three colors up and a keyword would appear in the openings further down in the wheel.
Well, I lined up the three colors it showed, but the keyword never worked. Turns out that the green and yellow squares on the screen looked exactly the same to me (but were distinguishable to me on the printed wheel).
