Just got the new Moto X Pure and my only complaint is that the default home screen, the one the home button takes you to, is the screen on the far left. I want to make it my middle screen. I've read stuff about getting a different launcher app, but really have no idea what that means or which app would be the best. Suggestions?

On my android you do the opposite of the pinch to zoom motion with two fingers. So start with your fingers close and spread them apart on any of the main screens. Then it will usually give you an option to set home screen. Hope its the same for you. Or hold your finger down in the middle of the screen and it will pop up with manage your home screens and widgets and the like.

So on a moto x pure, im pretty sure youre using Google Now Launcher. The whole far left thing is the way it works. Go to the play store and download Nova Launcher. Its a home screen app thats pretty flexible and should work the way you want it to.

Other good home launchers are Apex, Lightning, and my favorite, Action Launcher 3. You might not like it though because of the way it manages screens.

Just an FYI, a launcher is the program that controls your home screen and app drawer. With Android there are a ton of options out there to replace the default one for more customizable options. I've been running Nova launcher for a couple years now since it lets me make a ton of little changes that I want. For instance instead of the default 4 rows by 4 columns of icons I have 6 rows by 5 columns and I have turned off the app titles, for what I think is a cleaner look. I've also downloaded Icon packs to reskin my icons to make them more uniform.

Also if your default launcher is the same as my Motorola Turbo's Launcher 3 there doesn't seem to be any way that I can find to change the default home page. In Nova you can just double tap the home button and pick from there.

Action launcher is my favorite because I like to have a single, clean home screen, just like on my laptop. I get to have a clean home with the app drawer being a pull out drawer from the left and another drawer on right where I put my widgets and any folders I might have.

It can do multiple screens as well and it has a great feature called shutters. Basically folders but the first item serves as a cover for the folder and defaults to that app unless you swipe it, which will open the folder.
