How long do you want to ignore this user?
Hey guys, I just had my surround sound set up but the receiver is located inside my entertainment center. In order for the remote to work I have to have the entertainment center door open. I was told I could use an IR Blaster in order to fix this. However, I was just wondering what kind I should get? Is it as simple as plugging into the audio jack and making sure the sensor is visible? The receiver I have is a Denon AVR-S710W

TIA

I had pretty good luck with the below:

http://www.amazon.com/Next-Generation-Remote-Control-Extender/dp/B000C1Z0HA/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1439398681&sr=8-8&keywords=ir+blaster

It essentially turns your current remote into an RF remote allowing the components to be hidden.

Does that flying saucer looking thing have to be in plain view? Don't know if I'd want that showing.

No, it is located in the cabinet with receiver. You plug the emitter into the back of the saucer and put the red emitter over the IR sensor of denon.

I had the saucer behind the TV when I used it.

Interesting. Does this work with only 1 electronic device? I'd like to use it for the receiver, but my Uverse box is in plain view. If I insert one of the batteries in my Uverse remote would it work off that 1 saucer or would I have to buy another one?

It comes with 1 emitter eye but you can buy a 3 headed IR emitter and put them on other devices.

You can purchase additional "battery sleeves" to go with it and use as many remotes as you have IR emitters and sleeves.

One caveat is if you have 2 devices that use similar IR codes, it will change both devices instead of just one. The Uverse box and receiver wont have this problem. It is more if you have 2 denon receivers you are trying to control.

I have the BAFX Products one which works great, It is real small and has survived around 3 moves and set-ups, hardest part for me was using a flashlight to make sure I had the emitter taped over my receiver emitter (looks kinda funky but it is in a cabinet anyways so who cares)
