My wife and I just bought our first house a few months ago so now I can actually think about more permanent home audio setups. All I have right now is a 6-disc DVD player with a 5.1 surround sound system. I don't actually have it hooked up as I was thinking about putting that in the garage.

I have a TV out on the back patio for football games and whatnot but am unsure which direction to go with new technology these days. I want to get at least 2 speakers and a subwoofer for outside under the patio but want them to be wireless. What is the best and most cost-effective solution for that these days? I know there is Sonos but it sure fetches a pretty penny. Does anyone else have some guidance here?
