I'm looking for a camera that has:

a. fixed lens

b. good optical zoom (10x +)

c. manual focus/zoom capability.

The best I've found so far is the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ1000 (The fact that it can record 4K and fill as as the family camcorder is also nice).

I'd like to keep the price under $800. From what I've read, the larger sensor sizes (20MP 1"-type MOS sensor) are making the image quality on these long zoom cameras a lot better. I know I could get into the entry level DSLR range with this budget, but I don't want to mess with changing lenses.

Another option is the Sony DSC-RX10.

Both have good reviews on DP Review. Panasonic Sony

I'm partial to the Panasonic because I've had great experiences with their travel size, long zoom, point and shoots. I appreciate any input from the experts on here, and am open to other models/brands.
