I am looking into putting together a gaming PC for ~700$. Ideally for that I would like it to be relatively future proof. I don't do alot of intense gaming, but my current rig is a 4 year old laptop and I would like to try some newer games. Below is what I've put together on Amazon.
Can someone a bit more literate than me look over it to make sure I'm not stepping in any landmines, or missing a much better/cheaper option?

You should check out pcpartpicker.com

Nit only does it do price comparisons of a ton of sites, it also lets you know if there are any compatability issues between parts (I think)

I'm not an AMD guy, so I'm not much help with MB or processor, but I would suggest doing your build through pcpartpicker. It will automatically price each component through Amazon, Newegg, and a couple others to be sure you're getting the best price for each component.

Yeah my bil just suggested it. And I just realized my mother board is incompatible

This. Also /r/buildapc/ was very helpful when I did my first build.

Another site to look at is called (I believe) logical increments. It will give you a few different options in just about every price bracket.

If you have the money, it might be worth it to get a R9 390 or a GTX 970 since those are considered the price for performance kings, can handle anything you throw at them in 1080p/60fps, and would be considered fairly "future-proof" at those resolutions.

edit: added links.

The site Tom's Hardware will do budget builds every so often that are right around what you're looking for.

I run AMD myself. Love em.

Just don't forget an aftermarket CPU cooler and get arctic silver cpu paste. Arctic silver is a MUST in my eyes. The stuff that comes with the cpu is junk. AMDs run hot so having those two things are key in my book. I'd recommend the cooler master 212 evo. It's a beast and takes up a lot of room....but it'll be the last cooler you'll ever need.

Build a pc on reddit is amazing for this. You can skim the titles looking for your price range and then there's usually tons of examples and recommendations.

A little bit over budget, but overall pretty good for a quick build.

You can get a more powerful AMD card for the money but power usage will go up.

Is a solid state drive that important for gaming? I know it gives you faster boot up times and loading times, but once your in game does it matter?

It's not going to affect your gaming all that much but it is a game changer. I could never go back to booting off a spinning drive.

It was shocking the first time I booted after installing how much faster everything was.

I think most folks who build their own these days go for an SSD for a boot/ regularly used games and programs drive and a large cheap HDD for storage / rareley used software drive.

It should be pointed out that game and program performances on the SDD vs HDD are negligible at best. So you have options and SDDs are a great place for your OS, but if you have budget limitations you have options.

As for me I salvaged my old laptop HDD and use it for my main storage drive. If you can do that it's a great way to add hard drive space for free.

I write motherboard reviews for Tom's so I can see what they say about 760g. IMO future proofing an AM3+ system should require a 990FX board. They come in all shapes and sizes and it really boils down to what features you will end up using. If you don't want to overclock, getting super regulators won't be worth the money. If you don't want crossfire, I think there's a lower level9 series chipset.

Got this guy for $250 today due to a weird micro center sale(They didn't have any in stock), and getting Office Depot to price match.

Seemed like a pretty good deal...
Now I just try and cherry pick some deals on Prime Day.
