How long do you want to ignore this user?
Has anybody had a positive experience outsourcing development online?

I'm a developer myself with entrepreneurial aspirations while working at a 9-5. In dealing with bottle neck of basically having the weekend and a couple week nights to work on side projects, I've thought about outsourcing certain development tasks overseas that I would later code review. At this point my plan would be to just try to find someone on eLance.com, but does anyone else have any advice having outsourced development overseas before?

Never used it no, but am an Aggie coder and curious.

What type of work are you needing done? What languages/technologies?

Why outsource when you can Agsource?

I've thought about that too, for the same reasons. I may be wrong, but I've concluded that the time and effort to specify requirements not to mention ask for changes is not worth it if you can do it yourself in nights and weekends. The exception would be components that are very specific, highly technical, and/or takes a deep level of expertise to complete. This would include artwork, graphical design, image pattern recognition, protocol implementations, etc.

Why not just partner up with someone? That being said, what are you working on?

LAMP stack, angular front end with a PHP laravel back end that basically acts as an API

Well, I one day I'd love to "Agsource", but outsourcing to India, China, or South East asia can get me an ourly rate of 1/4 to 1/2 what I would have to pay another Ag.

rynning, for the most part I agree with exactly what your saying, which is why I view this very much as an expermiment more than anything. The hope I still have is after trying out 3-4 devs that one of them would begin to establish a rapport with myself and understand what I'm looking for without the extensive instructions that I'm sure will be necessary in the beginning.

Well, I do want to partner up, but I'd prefer to share equity with partners that compliment my technical background having an expertise in marketing (or something else that makes sense for the particular project) rather than other technical partners.

I've got an Indian guy writing some code for one of my projects. I've been impressed with his ability to understand requirements, deliver functionality, and communicate.

He works for Xerox though, so I've never done free lance overseas outsourcing as you might call it. That would make me nervous.

Bone6, we're writing something similar, except for the Angular piece. What are you creating if you don't mind me asking?

I have a lot of things I'd like to try to build, but the immediate project is a site that's meant to be somewhat of an "eLance" for live music connecting musicians with venues called Band Meet Bar (at http://bandmeetbar.com).

If you or anyone else on here would be interested in a more robust explanation of the site/project or would like to check it out with some test user accounts, feel free to shoot me an email at bandmeetbar6@gmail.com.
