EFF ME.

About 30 mins ago, with now an hour and a half til Tide kick off my U-verse cable starts glitching. Usually a soft reboot (holding power) does wonders.

This time though it displayed a cog on the screen which is for system update or something.

It does not display a download bar like i've read that it is supposed to -- just goes to a red X.

Tech support has this robot dude that does initializations and he is saying they need to send someone out later this week.

****! Can I swap DVRs for the one in my bedroom and hope it works or am I ****ed?

Don't have Comcast, but I don't see why you can't switch out the boxes if it's the box that is malfunctioning and not your service.

Now go disaster recovery the non-working box and see if that fixes it. Can't get any worse at this point, but if it works you just saved yourself the headache of a truck roll.

Turn it over and give it a good knock on the bottom in about the middle. Hard drives have been known to "stick" and can often be "unstuck" in this manner.

You should just have one DVR on U-verse... was the frozen box the DVR or one of the regular receivers?

I guess it was the dvr. Its smaller tha the other receiver

If it's a red x with two dots, dvr is toast. We've had 3 of them do that.
