CLIFF NOTES:
Anyone figured this out?
I've google'd instructions and tried every method I've found but they simply do not link. I keep getting a "will not link/find URL" error on the google end.
I can link the google calendar to yahoo*, but not the other way.
LONG VERSION
My wife has a yahoo e-mail (going on 8+ years) and she does not want to switch (and I don't blame her), I'm on gmail. But we want to link our calendars b/c of all the activities our kid's have this upcoming school year. This way, new events only have to be entered once (either by me on my gmail/calendar or by her on the yahoo mail/calendar and everything sync's).
I had to use my google account to set up her android phone b/c she does not have a google account; I just have the sync turned off for everything except the calendar so her phone actually gets my google calendar – (see below about yahoo calendars and android) so if she enters it on the phone, it shows up for both of us. But if she is on her PC checking e-mail, any updates she puts on her yahoo calendar will not show up on my google calendar. She has to log into my google calendar and enter stuff…just a small PITA that I’m trying to remove from the equation by linking the calendars both ways.
* - the google calendar shows up on the yahoo calendar, but I can't figure out how to push/update the information from google to yahoo automatically. If I make a change on the google end, it does not show up on the yahoo end (or it takes longer than 1-hour). Anyone know how to make this update go quicker without having to do a manual refresh?
RANT: You'd think yahoo would have an ap of some kind for android users for their calendar, and their web site says they do, but I cannot get it to d/l and the only thing on the android market is a "yahoo formobile" or some such uselessware that does not accomplish what I want. I’m not the only one as I’ve found several android message boards expressing similar frustrations with yahoo.
I did try this link, but it keeps giving me a server error when I try to log in under her yahoo account from her phone to d/l the ap. It also never sent a text to the phone to d/l anything.
http://mobile.yahoo.com/android#. Regardless if that worked or not, the link between the calendars still does not work. The only work around is for her to log into my google calendar and enter stuff on the PC, or to do it from her phone (which can be frustrating trying to type in addresses for 'away' football games, etc.).
