Does anyone else have a problem with the sound cutting on and off? What do I do? I am about to chunk this damn thing out the window...

Call customer service. If you aren't able to get anywhere, give me a shout at benburr at ymail dot com. I'll then correspond via my work email and work to escalate your issue.

You are probably going to need a tech to come out and assess, and that can be done through contacting customer service. I'm available if you need me though.

I've lived with that issue for years. It's weird because the audio drops out, but when you rewind it the audio is there as if it played the first time. Pretty annoying but I haven't wanted to invest the time to go through customer service.

It's been almost 7 years and I am rocking the same equipment, I'd like to get the new HD receiver with the larger hard drive and some new remotes as the ones I have now barely work...but again, haven't wanted to invest a 4 hour window or pay for new equipment (which I assume ATT would charge me for).

There are ways to break your U-verse boxes where they have to be swapped out. Look online for details. Basically you perform a disaster recovery on the box and interrupt power on the reflash.

This will get your all the latest hardware at no cost and the minor inconvenience of a dispatch.

Not that I'm saying you should do that though.......

I have that issue but only with HD Viacom channels (mtv, comedy central, vh1, G4 ect...)I had them service over the phone and a tech come out. They say its a problem with the content provider. So for those channels if I want to hear everything I watch in SD.

I agree it is very annoying, but I love uverse. I just wish the cable gui and channel numbering was as user friendly. I hate trying to navigate on my parents comcast box

We seem to have a lot of issues with the sound getting out of sync with the picture... almost more annoying than occasional dropouts. We do get dropouts on our bedroom TV, but I think it's due to a faulty or kinked optical cable between the U-verse box and the receiver (I've just been too lazy to replace it).

not sure about sound cutting out, but I know on the older remotes, there is a problem with the IR sensors. If you press the guide button a bunch of times it will mute the box not the the tv. Its a really easy fix though
