How long do you want to ignore this user?
I have a 160GB solid state drive that is full with games.

I am looking for a way to change the download directory to my secondary hard drive for the games I only play sporadically.

Apparently, this is impossible.

I read a few articles on the steam forum mentioning using some sort of windows "trick" to do this, but all the guides mentioned were using Windows vista and when I tried in the cmd prompt it said it wouldn't work.

Is there an easier way?! I cant believe this isnt a built in feature...

I've done a drag and drop on my Steam directory multiple times. All that happens is when you start the program it does a quick setup to make sure everything is good and then it works fine.

I think I may have misunderstood; do you want to have 2 different steam install directories at the same time?

Not necessarily.

What I want to do is have some games installed on my SSD so I can take advantage of the faster load times.

Then I want to take the games I dont really play as much and put them on the standard HDD so I dont have to download them every time I want to play.

Upon reading your question again, I guess the answer is yes.

One option is to move the app from the "Steam\steamapps\common" into your normal HDD and then whenever you want to play it move it back.

Just make sure Steam is closed when you do it; you may have to make sure that the steam game doesn't automatically try to re-download it once you've moved it.

I moved my less played games to an external HD to just store them. They dont show up as installed im my library anymore, but, if I want to play them again I just drop them back into my steam directory and steam automatically verifies their integrity and lets me play them again without redownloading HTH
