Right now I'm getting DNS failures on my main pc. The odd thing is some sites are available such as TexAgs (obviously) while others are not. I'm also getting pretty atrocious speeds from Suddenlink right now.



I've already restarted my modem and router as well as my computer to no avail. Should I try changing my DNS servers to OpenDNS or something similar?

Yup. B/CS area. I figured that, but I thought it was worth posting for any suggestions.

Yup, no Google, YouTube, FB, ajax.googleapis.com (jquery) or downforeveryoneorjustme.com (the irony). It may not seem like a big deal that google and FB are unreachable, but I'm putting the finishing touches on a site and really needed those to be working now. Especially, the googleapis.com part.

Back up for me, tentatively anyway.

It's beyond just b/cs, maybe all of suddenlink

Our engineer said his packets were making it out of Tyler but dropping around Seattle, so I don't think it was Suddenlink.

my suddenlink is doing alright... 21 down 1.8 up with a 36ms ping (I usually average 44ms ping)

Call suddenlink and complain. They will run the diagnostic and appologize then offer you a lower rate.

I figured it was a DNS problem, so I switched to Google's DNS servers. It is working fine after the change.

Can anyone confirm Suddenlink is working yet?

I left the house right after I posted this and when I got back around 8 p.m. it was back to normal again.

Use Comodo DNS, it works great but also filters out all the crap that can get your PC into trouble with a simple typo in the addy bar.

Barstool is right - OpenDNS FTW +1.
