Skip doing it with ADT and just set up that stuff yourself. The features you are attracted to don't have to have a monthly fee attached to it.
Get yourself a network connected DVR and install as many cameras as it can handle. I've installed different quality levels of those and almost all of them will allow you to view the cameras on your iPhone or Android device.
Not sure on the lights, never did that kind of stuff, but I know that there are plenty of things you can buy that will let you do home automation.
It may be a little more hassle up front, but you'll save mucho $$$ in the long run.
