How long do you want to ignore this user?
I have a cheapo Emerson HDTV in my study with a brand new Dish Network HD box and every once in a while the volume will just go silent like someone put it on mute. It usually occurs after pausing the tv for a few minutes but other times will just go off randomly. I called Dish Network a few weeks ago and they sent me a new box but that hasn't fixed the problem. Could it be that I have another faulty box or is it the tv?

2 problems:

But seriously, do you have another TV you can swap in to test?

Does it go silent for a long time or just a second or two?

Mine cuts out, but it is only maybe once or twice a month and it is only like hiccups in the line not silent for an extended amount of time.

The volume goes off and stays off until I turn the tv and dish box off then back on. The Emerson was a cheapo black Friday purchase. It's mainly just the tv I retreat to when the wife wants to watch woman tv. I guess I can take the nice tv from the living room and plug it in to see if that takes care of it.

I have had Dish for 7 years and never had that issue. I am going to say it is your tv, especially since you have swapped out DVR boxes already.

Get some rabbit ears or a DVD player to switch over to the next time the audio goes out.

That should tell you if it's a tv problem. Could be a cable problem.

Interesting...had Dish for 5+ years...and this happened twice in the last two weeks - picture was just fine. Now will be looking to troubleshoot if it keeps up/gets worse. Once happened watching DVR show on Tuner 2 and other time watching regular show on Tuner 1?? So diff. channels and TV's.

But if you replaced your box and still happening...maybe TV or the stars are misaligned somehow??

We have the silver, dual tuner DVR with one HD channel that's about 2yrs old (622 I think?)...anyway, I just reset the received twice and was fine. Good luck!

Replace your HDMI cable. I have had several customers with similar audio issues and replacing the cable has so far resolved all these issues.
