Bought this over the weekend and mark me as impressed thus far. Has handled any file type I have thrown at it and like the remote and portability. Haven't taken it wireless yet but reading off a portable hard drive is smooth...Anybody else have this? Thoughts?

Got one last year for my b-day. I love it, the only hassle is actually ripping my DVD's. I have about 900 or so, after getting 150 done the drive faded some. But it also streams Netflix, so it's GOLD to me!

They have one with an integrated HD in it, that's pretty sweet!

I bought the WD TV Live 2 weeks before WD TV Live Plus came out....Sucks.

Honestly my product sucks, it's like WD doesn't support it anymore. My movies streamed fine but after a firmware update all movies will stutter and freeze.

I tried rolling back to the earlier firmware, but then it won't log-in to my shared network.

Nice.

So I've been thinking about getting a WD TV plus but I'm curious why I should.

I currently throw my torrents on to the computer program Vuze and then my PS3 can pick them up and throw them on my TV. This is all done wirelessly. I don't know for sure that there isn't some drop off in video quality but on the surface there doesn't seem to be.

So why would I get a WDTV over my current Vuze/PS3 setup which isn't costing me any money?

2nd question...will the WDTV plus allow you to throw up your laptop screen as is on to your TV? Or can you only transfer media files from the PC to the TV? The one thing I want to do that I can't is open up a sports game on say channelsurfing or justin.tv and transmit that wirelessly from my laptop to my TV.

game blouses - that does suck. not sure why they wouldn't stand by the live product...as you may have seen there appears to be an active forum where people have written their own firmware...you may try some of that custom firmware to see if it fixes your issues

take it - I am not familiar with the Vuze/PS3 streaming but I have heard of it. I actually stream video from my pc wirelessly through windows media player to my xbox; if you are happy with your setup you don't really need it; I needed a way to get content to a second tv; i like that you can connect a usb drive to it and you don't have to deal with streaming hd quality across the wireless; It also will stream from your pc like your ps3 but i haven't tried it with my setup. I like the remote and it's easier for my other family members to use than an xbox controller. As a media extender it's cheaper than buying another xbox or ps3. It also reads the raw dvd iso and has the subtitles, menu etc (again haven't tried this yet)..
Also like the Netflix and music support...

for your second question i don't think it will do that but when you figure it out let us know...

terk - I saw that one with the hard drive integrated...still think you can do it cheaper by getting the drive separate but that is cool to have it all in one device...

I do know the Logitech Revue does it but then again that costs $250.
