How long do you want to ignore this user?
so my lg lcd t.v.'s coaxial cable outlet on the back has broken off, there is a little tip sticking out of the t.v. This t.v. is supposed to go on the wall, so is there a small device in which I can run my coaxle cable to and then run audio video cords to the t.v.? Other than a vcr, or cable box?

Can I sauter a longer peace of wire and attach a coaxial cable to then end of it? Any help?

I thought of an rf modulator, but wouldn't I need a coaxial to go from the modulator to the t.v.? If not, would I still be able to use my remote for the t.v. considering the modulator is on a specific channel, i.e. 3 or 4? Thanks for the help.

The modulator would have to have its own controller. Hence why people use VCR's and use it's own controller to change channels.

Another possible option would be to call the cable company, upgrade and get a digital box from them.

Why not get a cable box? If you have a TV nice enough to mount on a wall you should get digital cable. ESPNHD, anyone?

How the heck did you break it?

I don't want to pay 15 extra a month for the hd box, i'll also have to throw something together to mount the converter.

I have no idea how it broke.

random question...did you check the warranty on your tv?

Easy/cheaper (overall) fix.

A DVD recorder with an HD tuner built in. Sony makes some nice ones. Coax into DVD recorder HDMI out to TV. BAM solved and you can record very good quality to dvd, not HD, but pretty darn good. The HD signal WILL be passed to the TV w/o any degradation you just can't record in full HD.

That may be the best thing or the only thing I can do. I checked the warranty and it's only a 1 year manufacturer warranty, so it's already out. If I thought I could sauter a coaxel to the end of that tip, i'd do it, but I don't know if that would work.

Check with some local places and see if it is field replaceable for your model set. If they have to take it into the shop then you are talking serious $$. If that's the case go with the recorder or maybe a satellite tv solution.

Dish network Turbo HD service is rediculously low priced for what you get.

Tivo is always an option...

Would a TiVO have an HD tuner? I'm asking because I don't know much about standalone TiVO units.I was under the impression that stand alone units required an external tuner.

Tivo HD or HD XL would...
