Watched 13th Warrior last night...which got me thinking...

Calling it stealing or call it an homage, but Blizzard Entertainment is good at it.

  • Starcraft vs Aliens: numerous sound bytes (namely by the Terran marines) straight from the movie, some of the Terran weaponry very simular to the stuff in the movie, and then of course there is the little matter of the Zerg...

  • Warcraft 3 vs 13th Warrior: Arthas Menethil after he has been corrupted looks very much like Buliwyf from the movie (except Buliwyf is good, but hey). Arthas entering into his father's throne room is VERY similar to when Buliwyf and the boys enter into King Hrothgar throne room.

    i have known such thing for quite awhile with StarCraft, but I played it still.

    Speaking of StarCraft, is it playable on my MacBook?

    Medal of Honor Allied Assault and Spearhead should've been called Band of Brothers or vice versa (I don't know which came first and won't bother to look it up).

    I assumed there was some sort of tie in between Starcraft and Alien from the fist time I played it.

    Most of those are stock audio clips that are in many movies and games.

    I figured the corrupted king was more from LOTR than 13th warrior.

    What Blizzard blatantly stole was the Games Workshop themes.

    I always laughed at how similar Allied Assault was to Saving Private Ryan. I remember a couple missions in that game were basically reenactments from the movie, especially the Omaha beach level.

    Anyone familiar with Blizzard knows that they love to put pop culture references and homages to other mediums. There are all kinds of easter eggs in all their games that make fun of tons of stuff and the likes.

    Come now.. Bliz has done this for years, but I see it more in reference to other games than movies.
