Just got my iPhone and am to the point where I'm surfing apps.

Downloads so far (all free):

Google
Urbanspoon (awesome. random restaurant generator based on your location)
Dictionaire (haven't really used it yet, not sure how good it is)
Units (converts pretty much anything to anything)

I'm currently considering Things by Cultured Code, but it's a $10 App so I'm not sure.

What do you use?

Big fan of fring, especially if you have a SIP phone. Sportacular is good, and TankBuch is good for tracking your mileage and is free.

Cube Runner- simple graphics, suprisingly fun

Dactyl- fun game, but difficult

Jolt- voice recorder that transcribes your 15 second message to text... very accurate and cool

Midomi or Shazam- both decent at what they do...

Lux Touch- awesome...

FSS Hockey- air hockey, 1 player, 2 player, or wireless 2 player...

Maze Finger- you either love it or hate it

i.TV- if you ar a tv or movie buff, this is pretty cool

iBowl- great way to break your iPhone... hold on tight

at least one of the tilt-a-ball games (Labyrinth, BiBall, MarbleMash)

Knots- silly "twister-like" finger game

Pac Lite- pacman

CannonGame- fun time killer game

AroundMe- similar to Yelp

for the gamblers- any blackjack games, the blackjack Trainer, iSlots, Dice, and lots of others

if you have kids these are good apps: TicTacToe, Four Free (connect 4), BubbleWrap, any of the math education games, hangman, word search

All those are free... as far as paid Apps, Motochaser is easily worth $0.99, and the Missile Command game is awesome, but is maybe $4-$5...

Shazam is like magic
Lux touch is alot of fun
i.TV
Sportacular
Pandora

I bought one called chef, which is a really cool concept if you like to cook. You can search recipes, save them, and automatically create shopping list. It works great, but there are some limitations.

Unfortunately, there are pieces of a number of apps I like but they all seem to have something missing. There is alot of room for improvement, specifically with importing and exporting data.

AstroTilt--brick breaker type game and free

Lightsaber--pretty goofy, but fun free App

Sportacular--very good way to keep up on scores and free

This looks cool but it keeps crashing on me.

Did you turn off and restart your phone before playing it? I've heard that helps with crashing issues. I've never had a problem with it like that, but I know others have.

Does the iphones "GPS" work well?

It has good directions like google, but it kills your battery. I wouldn't give up my Garmin for it.

Thanks to the poster that put up wootwatch.

I never even thought to check for a woot app.

I'm looking forward to the 2.2 software. Street level views and walking/bus directions. The screen shots of the street level while following directions look sweet.

After a whole week of using my iPhone, I have no idea why anyone would ever get anything else. I've never used a Blackberry but I have a hard time believing it can match the functionality of the iPhone... esp once you start adding to apps to 'personalize' it to your life.
NC2001
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Yep, I'm hooked on my iPhone as well. I don't use it as an iPod (I still have my 30G video iPod), but I do put a movie or two on it when I'm on the road. And yes, getting apps is what makes it great.

I'm so pumped about this thread.

I have had a blackberry for years, and recently switched jobs so I had to give back my pearl. My new job wouldn't allow me to get a personal blackberry onto their BES - so I could go either iphone or windows mobile. I actually got an HTC Touch Diamond on Sprint first - but hated it and cancelled the service and phone within 2 weeks.

Got the iphone now and love it. I can't begin to explain how happy I am with it and have been searching the history for an "iPhone apps" thread. That said - I use:

Urbanspoon - awesome.
Shazam - awesome.
Pandora - awesome.
ESPN Cameraman - incredibly addicting, even the wife likes it.
Sportacular - just downloaded this over the weekend - big fan so far.
Roku Remote - I have a Roku Soundbridge - so this is really cool.
SmugShot - taking pics and uploading them directly to my Smug Mug page.

I downloaded Jott and took it off - I just didn't like it.

I now downloaded "Say Who", "Google Earth" and "Grocery IQ". Been thinking about "Things", but haven't taken the plunge.

Things is a great, intuitive app. Well worth the $10 IMHO.

I just downloaded Say Who this week as well.

For those that love Things, have you all tried Tasks or ReQall? I want to spend some time with the free ones before I pull the trigger on a pay app.
CTP93
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I tried both. I have actually tried quite a few. Turns out that for me personally, Things just fits the way I operate.

I had been a Things user on the Mac since its inception and the idea of running it on iPhone was cool. I didn't really get on board though until they implemented the sync. Now it is probably the most productive thing on my iPhone
Vernada
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Since I use a PC at work, I only have Things on my iPhone and it is still a very useful. During meetings I can very quickly add items to the Inbox (kind of a holding area) and them easily move them to appropriate places later.
