Trade Question - How do you handle them?

I had a situation in my longtime keeper league -- playing in the same league for more than 20 years:

I was actively involved in negotiating a trade with another team owner. We'd been working out details for the trade for about three days -- as it is a keeper league. We'd worked out the players, and we were working an agreement on future draft picks, negotiating if the pick was going to be a 5th or 6th rounder. So -- we were close.

While I awaited a response, the owner accepted a similar deal with another team with that 3rd team's owner giving up the 5th.

The owner I was negotiating with didn't give the heads up that he was negotiating with another team. I found out about the trade, while still waiting for a response.

Now, my question is this: As a fantasy owner, when you are negotiating trades and have several teams interested in the same player, do you let the owners know there are others interested?

Shame on me for not thinking there were other discussions, but if I'm, in that position where I'm talking to multiple teams about the same player, I'm at least going to give the owners a heads-up that they are negotiating against each other.

Take the NFL as an example….
Some teams make it known they are trading a player. Other teams don't.

Yeah it just depends.

Me personally I want the other team to know there are others interested as it creates a bidding war. But if I'm engaged with an owner I'll typically tell them that there are others involved/interested but since he was first he'll get the chance to match with a best and final.

I also always like to let the other owner know as we get close that if anyone swoops in let me know before accepting.

With that said nothing about what went down with OP was against the rules or shady. He got a better offer and took it.

This is how I operate. If I would have known that, I would have given the 5th rounder.

I have no problem with him taking the better offer -- I would have done the same. But, we were actively negotiating. A heads-up would have been nice.

And, it's not shady or against the rules -- it's just imo, bad form.

He has no obligation to tell you anything imo. That's showbiz, baby.

There's a guy in my main league, where if he comes at you with a trade, you'd best assume he's reached out to at least half the league trying to trade the same players he's offering you. There's no requirement to discuss other trade partners you may or may not be dealing with.
