Use of the flex position

Something I learned today, too late for the game tonight, is to use the flex position for someone you hope will play but might not, like Aaron Jones. I had him in the RB spot and he's inactive tonight, so I had to drop a bye week player to pick up AJ Dillon (I only need 15 points to win).

Had I had Jones in my flex spot, I could have dropped that bye week player and picked up someone with higher projected points, like Musgrave. As it was, I was limited to RB.

The FLEX spot isn't a throw away roster spot for whatever lotto ticket you have.

It should be a spot to use to get as many points as possible.

My three best players this week are RB, so I had two in the RB slots and the third in the flex. With Jones in my flex I would have had better options. That's all I'm saying.

Point stands (actually it's just play your latest game players at flex) but bad example, there won't be much on the wire that will have a better shot at double digits than a starting RB, and starting a ww TE at flex won't often be profitable for

yes, if you're REALLY hoping one of your best players, who is questionable, will play, but whose game is not until Sunday night or Monday and you don't want to bench him and play someone else before noon on Sunday, move them to flex so you have more options available by Sunday evening or on Monday (unless you already have a backup plan for Monday night and you know they are the same position).

Week 5, if you thought Aaron Jones might play and didn't have someone else you were comfortable starting over him before noon on Sunday, you could have moved Jones to flex and your flex to RB.. then had MNF options between AJ Dillon or possibly someone like Jakobi Meyers or Romeo Doubs or Musgrave instead. This is what the flex is for; it gives you flexibility.

I always put the guys in the flex position who have the latest game so you can potentially switch them out for any of your other players if they don't play.
