As I said in the other thread, that's a lot for a QB who isn't your best QB in your 2 minute drill.
ha, beat me to it. Yeah $40mil guarateed for someone who doesn't know the 2-minute offense and is not in cardiovascular shape. This makes no sense to me.

Dumb move by the Redskins. How are McNabb and Shanny going to coexist? Which one gets sent packing first? I guess if history is any indicator then Shanny will be gone within a year or two and McNabb will still be the QB when his contract expires, at which point I assume he'll be really bad.

but what makes this deal especially ludicrous is the labor uncertainty ahead. there are now more and more people 'in the know' who are starting to feel pretty strong about an upcoming lockout.

Just when I think that Dallas is the laughing stock of the NFC East if not the entire NFL Washington does something like this. Thanks Redskins

Actually its not really $40 million guaranteed. IF they cut him this year, they are only on the hook for $3.75 million. If they keep him, and pay him his $10 million bonus, then it triggers the rest of the deal. Chances are he wont be a Redskin next year.

I read only 3.5 million is guaranteed..

It's on ESPN, they reported 3.75, but then again, they did report that it was 40 yesterday. So who really knows.
I see this as their backup plan if they don't like whats available in the draft/FA or through a trade. They are basically paying him almost $4 million for a right of first refusal.
