At the end of the game, he looked like he would have got a decent return. Then a saints player about ripped his head off. Late flag too....

very late flag, glad he ended up being ok. pretty rare that you see someones entire body do a 180 in the air as a result of a facemask.

Sounds like someone needs to take out some vigilante justice!

that player shoulda been ejected, fined, AND suspended a couple of games for that. theres just no excuse...thats can turn into a pretty serious injury and one of these days its gonna happen.

I agree Orlando. I was watching the game when it happened and I immediately thought there should be a stiffer penalty for such a malicious facemask.

Unfortunately, someone will be paralyzed from a really bad facemask like that before they change the rule.

You'd have a heck of a time proving intent on a case by case basis, and you'd have to make a case for it in order to eject someone or fine them. I too saw the play as it happened, and as bad as it was, it never crossed my mind that it was intentional.

None of those guys truly want to hurt anyone, and there are a variety of plays that can end in horrific injury. Injury or not, you can't eject someone for an accident.

Face masks are tough, because a lot of times, once you get your fingers in there, they aren't coming out til the guy stops moving. It looked bad, but really wasn't any different from a dozen other facemasks that occur every Sunday.
