"The "Good Old Song" is UVa's fight song, which is sung to the tune of Auld Lang Syne (the New Year's Eve song); it is played and sung every time UVA scores in a sporting event. Fans stand, link arms, sway back and forth and sing: "That good ole' song of Wahoo-wah, We'll sing it o'er and o'er, it cheers our hearts and warms our blood to hear them shout and roar. We come from old Virginia, where all is bright and gay. Let's all join hands and give a yell for dear old UVa. Wahoo-wah, wahoo-wah, Uni-v Virginia, hoo-rah-ray, hoo-rah-ray, ray! ray! U-Va!"

Holy crap that is lame.

As a Clemson fan, I've been up to UVa. First of all, I'd like to mention how it is much more classy than Va Tech. MUCH more.

But on to the song...
It is funny yet strangely depressing how their song kills excitement after a score. Nothing like a TD followed by a slow New Years Eve song!

The Clemson band started singing when they played it.
"we're here because we're here because,
we're here because we're heeeereee...
etc. during the song. It was hilarious.

If by classy, you mean has no fan support or excitement, then I totally agree. VT played in Charlottesville yesterday, but nearly 1/3 of the stadium was wearing maroon and drowned out the home crowd. Hokies are loud and proud of their school and rich traditions, but they are classy as well. Remember, DC (where most VT alums live) is closer to NYC than Blacksburg, but Lane Stadium is always packed and loud, even on a downpour Thursday night.

Classy has nothing to do with how many fans show up. No doubt Va Tech has great fan support.

I'm talking about guys grabbing your girlfriends butt, cussing in your face, falling down drunk while walking up the ramp to the seats, etc that I experienced at VT.

Other schools with great fan support but far less class include Georgia and FSU, in my experience.

Schools with tons of class would be Texas A&M, Georgia Tech, and Duke.

I visited Charlottesville once during my days at Georgetown --

A couple of things stand out:

A) This is truly where the East Coast ends and the South begins -- the architecture, the atmosphere, etc. -- you know that all things Yankee end here.

B) The grounds of Mr. Jefferson's University are beautiful.

C) I learned one of the many many many UVa. drinking songs.
I think we need another drink
Hey!
I think we need another drink
Hey!
I think we need another drink
For the Glory of the UVa.!

Maybe you experienced a bad apple. Most Hokies are wonderful people who will go out of their way to help or befriend someone. Most Ags can attest to how well they were treated in Blacksburg a few years ago.

We just had a 2 year lovefest with the Hokies. They booed their own offense in the opening game this season? Anyone remember the significance of that game and how it was about Hokies coming together?
