I am looking to get back to working in the oil field but I am a little apprehensive on when is a good time to jump in. A buddy of mine told me this Spring coming is usually a good time to get in. I use to use to install well heads but I got laid off when the o/g industry had its downturn back in 2015. I would love to get back. What are positions, if available, that would not require me to move back to Odessa/Midland? Any advice would be appreciated. I currently work in a refinery as contractor.

What do you want to do and where do you want to work? Other than Midland, you can look in South Texas, Haynesville(East Texas/LA), Oklahoma, PA( NE), or Rockies which can be North Dakota, Wyoming or Utah most likely.

I would love to get back into installing wellheads and valves again. At this point I am not too picky. I wouldn't mind working on work over rigs sites or fracking operations as a technician. I've never worked those before so I am not aware of the various positions involved.

Check Intelligent Wellhead Systems. I don't know if they do a rotational schedule. Frac companies are always looking for people. You don't have to live in midland but most are on a 2 weeks on - 1 week off schedule.

Whats your background other than wellhead installs? Lots of options, and seems like market is cooperating on steady work w/ some slight improvement.

When you say wellhead installs are you saying original installations on the drilling side? Or Frac Tree install w/ Torque & Test?

What kind of frac / workover tech are you looking at? Working on a crew?

Monkeying a HyTorq in a north dakota winter on a 4-6 well pads with flanged monoline everywhere for a frac side sounds miserable to me (and I'm the guy that calls to schedule the work). Not saying I wouldn't do it but there's definitely options that are easier than being in a manlift in a north dakota winter.

Intelligent Wellhead Systems seems decent. Those guys run hard though. Don't think I've seen them have a schedule as I see the same folks pretty frequently.

We're hiring rotational positions in a few different locations, usually running 20/10. Company pays travel so you can live wherever.

Let me know if you're interested and I can get a resume in the right hands.
