company is creating 4 new roles by splitting products into 4 categories and a GM will be responsible for each category. I would equate it to something like a Director of Product Management. Anyone have any info or resources to look at to help determine what kind of comp plan to expect/ask for?

Product salaries have a very wide range but this reddit thread may help:

I'm a Product Manager at a tech company and I will say, with all the tech layoffs, it seems PM salaries have decreased this year.

I'm in Austin and this site claims the average base salary is $117k, which seems low in my opinion:

I was formerly a Director of Product Mgmt at a software company. When COVID cut me, I looked at salaries for similar roles and I found I was near the high end of the industry scale.

If I was tasked with this, I would check out Glassdoor or Indeed. You'll get some "honest" responses on salary, benefits, etc. I haven't looked in a while, but you may even be able to refine your search criteria. Otherwise, look at competition and/or adjacent verticals/industries for what their pay scale is.

Project Management isn't the same as Product or Product Line Manager most of the time.

It just depends on the company. I had multiple product lines so was essentially a division manager in a previous role.

Agreed, I'm a Product Manager, suppose that wasn't clear in my post.

Are you open to connecting and chatting about your role and how you got started?

I have product mgmt oriented experience, but I'm not totally sure it qualifies me for a PM role

Sure, shoot me a dm. Not sure my journey will shine a lot of light as my route to PM work was not traditional. Got hired in a business role to set up a new department. Department got shut down 6 months in and they offered me an open Product Manager role instead of laying me off, which I took.

Is this something you're actively hiring for? I was laid off in Feb from a PM role and would love to chat about it if so.
