My wife has been an RN for 15 years and an Acute Care NP for almost 8 years. She is looking to move on from patient care to reduce stress levels and be home with our kids more.

We are ideally looking for something part time and remote that uses her clinical background but isn't patient facing.

Any ideas of roles or companies we should target? We are in the Fort Worth area if it makes a difference.

Insurance companies will often use RN/NP to conduct medical reviews for coverage. On the other side, hospitals will have RN/NP to combat the denials they receive from insurance companies. Both of these can easily be done remotely.

Virtual online schools, such as Stride, have school nurse positions available. Also, there are many opportunities for online Health Science Teacher's if interested.

My wife works for UHC and they are usually hiring RNs for various positions. It's a great option, she works from home and UHC is pretty awesome to work for according to my wife.

Check out insurance companies and search for case management gigs online.

My wife does in-home health assessments for united healthcare (i assume this is who you are talking about) and it has been a dumpster fire and she can't wait to get out.

Any case management experience? I have a position opening up at my hospital in Arlington

Sorry just looked again and saw you were only interested in part time. I only have FT positions. Good luck with your search

This. My wife is a RN with years of CCU/ICU experience and an MBA. She went from hospital admin to WFH for an insurance company doing coverage evaluation and assessment. What a disaster. Zero flexibility and micromanagement abound. She left after six months to take on a clinical director role for an ambulatory hospital/surgical center. Much better than an impatient hospital and WAY better than the case management.

As others have mentioned, look into a health plan at either care management or utilization management.

It's not for everybody, but for the right person it can be a really good job.

Care management is probably more flexible. They would use her clinical experience to "manage" their members to help ensure they are getting the care they need.

UM is highly regulated and very process, operationally driven. Again, they use the clinical experience of the RN to ensure the insurance company is paying for services within the benefit and medically necessary.

At least where I live, there is a nursing shortage so getting work isn't tough.

Look into Reimagine Care. They do telephone triage (all from home) as a 3rd party vendor for practices. I am currently in negotiation with them to take over my triage department for my oncology practice.

Has she considered Clinical Research opportunities?
Quite a few pharma/bio and CROs hire nurses as clinical research associates (CRAs) and there are quite a few remote opps out there. Do a quick search on LinkedIn and you should find a bevy of opps
And there are many contract opps as well

Tell her to join Remote Np & PA Jobs group on FB. My wife is a NP doing part time telemedicine, but her hours vary from 0 for some weeks to 20 other weeks. Not very reliable, but we are okay with that.
