Comflow Mechanical Services is looking for a Controller/CPA for their office in Houston. Their office is located between 610 and Beltway 8 just before Gessner. Comflow Mechanical is Aggie owned and operated, has been a recipient of the Aggie 100 Award multiple times, and employs over 80 people. Below is a description of the responsibilities along with the desired qualifications.

Responsibility

• Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures

• Directly supervise accounting and clerical office staff

• Oversee accounts receivable and accounts payable functions and all account reconciliations, journal entries and transactions

• Manage and prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting packages, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements with insightful analyses and management commentary

• Manage payroll function

• Treasury Management - provide cash flow analysis and manage cash balances, completing monthly bank reconciliations and general ledgers to check accuracy of data entry

• Manage company's debt financing, ensuring compliance with all debt covenants

• Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements for taxes and other regulatory agencies, enforcing adherence to requirements; filing financial reports; advising management on needed actions

• Coordinate physical inventory, audit and post results

• Prepare and coordinate with outside accounting firms for year-end financial audits as well as the filing of federal and state corporate income tax returns

• Prepare sales and property tax returns

• Manage all processes and tools for budgeting, forecasting, and reporting on budget vs actual

• Assess, execute and improve policies, procedures, and internal controls

• Hire, train, mentor and coach accounting staff

• Provide project management for all types of special projects

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree, preferably in Business Administration or Accounting

• CPA and/or MBA a plus

• At least 5+ years of experience in a similar environment

• Construction, subcontracting, or service industry experience is a plus

• Thorough understanding of functional accounting areas and financial analysis and reporting

• Must be expert in Excel proficiency

• Highly organized, detail oriented, proactive, resourceful, excellent time management, efficient and service focused

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Good interpersonal skills

• Responsive - it is very important that tasks are undertaken in a timely manner

• Ability to identify problems, come up with solutions, make a plan, and execute that plan with little guidance

• Ability to maintain discretion (confidentiality agreement is required)
