What is recommended here? My wife has only been out of work for a year since we decided for her to stay home. Searching online gets mixed reviews around what to put on your linkedin/resume in regards to being a stay at home mom & looking to get back into a career. FWIW, my wife only had a couple years of experience before leaving to stay home, not as if she had a full-blown career already established.

Thanks!

I'm curious to this as well bc I am looking at going back in a part time capacity this fall. Only difference is I had about 9 years of career behind that.

I'd keep it pretty honest and simple, something like "Stay At Home Mother Re-Entering Workforce," but probably a little more specific to what she wants to do. Ensure that the SAHM portion is added to her resume and LinkedIn profile as if it was a paid job, with listed responsibilities.

My wife (also an Ag) re-entered the workforce in Feb after 3+ years of being a SAHM and was a working professional for 3+ years prior to that. When I took a job in FW, her search became pretty fruitful in the Metroplex.

She'll definitely get asked questions, directly or indirectly, on her reasoning for getting back into the workforce and if she thinks she's ready.

Good luck!

Cover page on top of resume stating what she wants to do and that she was a SAHM the reason she has a big gap of unemployment.

You put the job description that you want. Leave stay at home out of it. "Experienced project manager" or similar with whatever background she has.

ETA look up Liz Ryan on LinkedIn. She had a good article about job gaps etc. she also said in another she didn't care about them as a hiring manager/HR individual and why.

I did a lot of job hunting lately and a ton of research. When I stopped blindly applying to jobs, fixed my LI profile and networked - I literally landed a job in 72 hours after the first contact with the internal recruiter. I spoke to him Thursday. He email blasted my resume and LI profile to hiring managers. 30 mins later, the boss of my new boss says he wants to talk to me Friday. Sunday he makes my new boss set up an interview Monday. Tuesday I had surgery. Woke up from that with a job offer in my inbox.

Fantastic international publicly traded company with a project management position. I'm going to write a post about everything I learned to try to help people out, but that's part if the knowledge I gained.

"When I stopped blindly applying to jobs...".

That's where things start taking a turn. Job board resume blasts do far more harm than good.

Best wishes on your new opportunities.

I think one of the biggest questions is figuring out what she wants to do. Sales? Recruiting? HR? Finance? Accounting? Engineering? Being a EA?
