Anyone know the requirements for an attorney to waive into the Texas Bar? I really would love to avoid taking another bar exam if possible. I am currently barred in Nevada, and Nevada has reciprocity with no other state (because it wants to keep out all the California attorneys).

Any insight would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

I've heard that you can waiver in after 5 years of continuous practice in another state, but I haven't verified that info. Definitely check the Texas bar website.

Admission based on reciprocity in Texas is not allowed.

If you have practiced 5 of the last 7 years you should be good.

Texas does not have immediate "reciprocity" with any particular state, but you can absolutely get licensed here without taking the bar exam, as outlined in the link posted above.

Thought Nevada was a UBE state? Not that it matters for Texas, of course
