Looking for some sample interview questions to practice with my niece. We already did one and she provided the questions, would like to do another with a set she hasn't seen.
thanks

For general questions just google up "common interview questions."

If you know the exact company or a similar company in the same industry look at glassdoor.com also indeed.com

Both sites will have reviews and salaries, Glassdoor will have interview questions too. The tough part with reviews is trying to discern if the review applies to your specific application. For example Cheveron will have reviews for locations all over the world and positions from gas station attendant to senior level engineers.

Those sites should get you going

Thanks, I think she did that already the questions we used seemed very generic, stuff like why you want to teach, what is your ideal classroom etc...I was thinking something a little more real world might help...

Glassdoor should help her out. I will go out on a limb and assume she is young and this is a first job or first "real" job type of thing.

For example, if she is going into retail, look up "Target" on glassdoor.com. There are 6,700 interview experiences. You can sort by location and job applying for. Just scrolling through a few, it seems Target asks something to the effect of "How will you sell out RED Card to Customers?"

HEB surprised me with a bagger interview question - What have you done to give back to the community? I wouldn't have expected that question for the level of position.

Being a teacher who has interviewed in the past year:

1. I had to teach a sample lesson plan.
2. I was asked general questions about classroom management, content knowledge, what a typical day in class would look like, etc.

I can't really remember past those questions.

I always like to throw in a question about extracurricular activities...in a school a lot of people help in various ways...if hired would you be interested in coaching, helping out with U.I.L. activities or after school programs?

I usually do not ask any questions about content. If you are getting the interview you have passed your tests. I am more worried about classroom management and fitting in with the rest of the team.

Also, always ask a question about friendships with students and fun in the classroom. Kids need to be engaged in learning, which means that they need to like you and for you to like them. If I get a sense that you don't like kids your not getting hired.

Another one, Why would I hire you over someone who has more experience as a teacher?

I've sat in on many teacher interviews. Rehearse some answers to these questions.

What would you do if a parent or guardian was unhappy with a decision you made in the classroom and used social media to vent her frustration with you?

Give some examples of strategies you use for classroom management of very difficult students.

Describe a successful lesson plan and indicate how you measured student mastery of your objectives.

How do you ask for help?

Tips: Be ready to present a spotless resume; forget all the verbiage and just tell the truth. It's refreshing. Be cognizant of the data-driven nature of today's classroom, curriculum, and grade level and leadership teams. Know your STAAR terminology. Get inspired by watching a few TED talks. It'll remind you of why you want to be a part of this profession.

Be happy, not scared. Confidence is really important. Everyone gets to be a first-year teacher, but your interview team wants to see that you're enthusiastic and teachable about the opportunity.

Also be aware that your interview team is going to preview your Facebook page before the interview, so make sure it reflects who you are as a member of the teaching profession. We once looked at the FB page of a potential applicant and saw nothing but bar scenes so we never offered an interview. Sorry but that's the way the world works.

Ok, I guess I am an idiot. I see that in the title it specifically states "teaching". How about telling your nice to no be like me and hear the question in its entirety before answering - lol.

Tell her to be herself and not use canned answers. Also, any research she can do on the school district/campus will help her out immensely.

https://rptsvr1.tea.texas.gov/perfreport/tapr/2015/index.html

These are the data reports from the 2014-2015 tests for every campus/district that takes them in Texas, but they have these for every state.

From a former school superintendent, here goes:

Describe your communication method or approach with parents, staff and administrators.
How do you design and facilitate an engaging classroom?
Do all students learn the same way? Explain how you differentiate learning and instruction.
What strategies would you employ to help a struggling reader? And writer?
How would you incorporate technology?
How do you hold your students accountable for learning and their behavior?
How do you hold yourself accountable?
Why do you want you want to teach at our campus?

I can provide much more, but these are pretty standard. Good luck and remember teaching is not a job it is life-changing career.
