I was just wondering if there are any Ags that work in the recruiting department at Chevron in Houston. I would like to get in touch with someone because I recently applied for a position online and I am wondering if there is anything else I can do to get my foot in the door. The position is in the EHS department.

Yeah but within that there are close to 200 different departments throughout chevron.

No I don't work for CVX. My ex-wife works in HSE for Chevron use to be on the Piceance Project but is now in Covington, LA.

I know that I am a little late getting in on this post, but I am in the Houston area really trying to break into the EHS field. I have experience in Occupational safety, I am halfway through my masters in Occupational safety, and will hopefully be sitting for my ASP certification test either this month or next month. I could really use some help from anyone who is willing to give it.

lol. yeah that was really bad post. My bad. I just got really excited when I saw this post since I've been very interested in joining in the Chevron Team and wanted to reply despite how late it was.

Those who have asked for advice: I'm dealing with some private matters that has called me away from work. I probably won't be back in the office until mid-late next week.

I was scheduled for a visit on Monday but they said they had to re-schedule without a date in mind. They said they couldn't share the reason why too.

Not sure if it makes you feel better or worse, but I have been trying to get a job there going on 6 months or so. This is with an employee referral, and previously being a contractor (the guy I was working for is my referral, so I know he liked my work). I spoke with him and he said it takes people months or even a year just to get an interview, and to be persistent. He basically said everyone wants to work at Chevron, so it's very competitive. Might be different for you, as I've only got about 4 years xp, so YMMV at different levels.

I'm a full CVX employee. All I can say is that you must be patient and persistent. If you don't succeed the first time, try for another job. I was hired out of my MS degree and it took 8 months from my initial interview to final offer and start.

Thanks. Hopefully it gets rescheduled. The HR was insistent it didn't have to do w/ my application. Just wondering, do y'all have any tips or advice on prepping for future interviews with chevron??

I've applied there to various positions going on 8 months and have heard nothing and that's with an MS.

I've stepped away from this section of the board due to requests that I frankly hold no control over. I can't even really add much value to TKEAg and he's an employee already.

I'm working on a post regarding CVX's hiring practices and how they might affect the broader candidate pool. There isn't a cut and paste model for our organization due to how large we are, but there are some standards that might be able to help.

Unfortunately I cannot respond to individual requests for the time being for a variety of reasons, but will do my best to provide a good overview of the process in the next few days. I'll post a new thread with that information instead of replying here.

For those with specific questions regarding their application status, I am not at liberty to provide that information as it should all be conveyed directly from the recruiter handling each position.

I'm interested where this thread is going, because I am also an environmental engineering consultant that has been looking to get a job at CVX for a few years. I've been striking out with the on-line hiring process, and I feel that I am more than qualified for a few of the positions that I've applied for. I have worked with a few folks in the ETC group over the years, but don't feel comfortable asking them about jobs when working with them on projects.
