Could someone shed some light on ConocoPhillips' salary structure? I'm interested in a position that is a 14, but can't find much on their pay scales online.

It had some info for average salaries based on titles, but I was looking for more specifics (based on Salary Grade).

I am not a 14, so I don't know what the exact range for that is, but if I had to guess, the midpoint is near the 100-110k range.

I think a lot of people tend to agree that the base pay of COP is less then what other companies are.

Where you do see perks in the package is in their healthcare where there is an option available that costs $0, and they give you an HSA card and $600.

Then there is the Bonus which is always a "target" of 7.5% which can go up (or down) based on performance.

Finally there is a "savings target" that they use as an offshoot to having a high company match on your 401K. Basically the way it is designed, is that 1% of your salary is deducted from your paycheck, and they target giving you back a minimum of $9.25 per dollar every 6 months.

So for the last 6 months, they "returned" $10.93 for every dollar invested. If you made 100k a year, you would have gotten a pay out of nearly $5500 in COP stock which can then be dispersed over the rest of your 401K.

They do this payout twice a year, so when times are good, you can gain a bunch of money real quickly.

let me know if you want to know anything else.

I've got a friend that is COP and is a Grade 13. His salary is about 90, but he said he is above midpoint for his grade. He also said that the grades overlap by quite a bit. Apparently, a 13 could actually make more than a 14 and almost as much as a 15. He wasn't sure, but his estimate for midpoint 14 was also about 100. Thanks for the info.

matt06,
What do you do at COP? I've been in pipeline Asset Integrity for a few months now.... curious to see how many ags there are around here.

The overlap is due to the 80/120 percentile structure that they use. If you are 120% of your midpoint then you will make more then the lower end of the higher grade. You really want to always be as close to the 100% as possible, and if you are about to go over, then it's time to push for the increase in paygrade b/c your bonuses will be less due to being above the midpoint.

I and 3 other Ags work in the Speciality products group in Houston (CSPI). I spent time in Capital Project Procurement, but moved over here to do a rotation.
