I was wondering if anyone had any insight or have worked for Stryker?? I have applied for a Medical Device/Equipment Sales position specifically in the Trauma division and was wondering if anyone could pass along any insight. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

what is your background? i know they like extremely competitive types and hire a lot of former collegiate athletes.

stryker is a great gig, however, they are very tough. What I mean by that is that you could be the most admired rep in the area, but if you fail to make quota, they'll replace you. They do favor reps who've played college sports or have a military background (it is a competitive field and they want a very competitive spirit). It's a guys - guys company and very solid. If you do get past the first interview, you will be required to take a Gallup interview; if you pass you are in great shape, if you don't, then your gone.

Knew a former CEO of the company from the mid 90's. Not sure about anything else.

The two people that I know that work for them are both former athletes at A&M. Nevere put that together until now.

kstanton, is one of them from east texas? i know a former backup kicker that played at A&M and works for them.

i work for Acumed in medical implant device. I love it. Today I worked from 5AM to 10:45PM. Stryker has some great products and they are expensive which is good for you if you get the job.

I am going to work for Synthes, a Stryker competitor, on April 1. I wholeheartedly agree with Zag...if you aren't networking and moving your name around the industry, you might as well be mowing lawns.

I tried recruiters and the like for 3 months before finally having my personal networking pay off in the form of an opportunity to simply fly cross-country (on my own dime) and "shadow" a rep for a 13 hour day in the OR. THEN, it only took 4 more months to get a 1st interview and 2 more months of interviews, HR paperwork, etc before finally accmplishing my goal.

I say all this to paint you a picture of the timeframe it can take to get in...don't give up!! Go get/find the job, cuz it most assuredly will not find you!

Congrats on the Synthes gig!!!!!

Where are you located? I'm going in as an ASC-spine with a 20+ year tenured rep, great guy.
