I am considering taking some classes at Blinn over the summer, to get ahead and partially to avoid having to take them at A&M. Also, I am not completely positive I will take classes at Blinn, but I will be taking at least one somewhere.

  • PHYS 2426
equivalent to PHYS 208 or 219 at A&M.
I am going to take this class over the summer. Has anyone had any experience taking it at Blinn? Is it comparable in difficulty to the A&M course? Do you have a professor to recommend? Thanks in advance.

  • MATH 2415
equivalent to MATH 253, differential equations at A&M.
I might take this one just to get another math class out of the way.

  • Does anyone know of a community college with a class equivalent to A&M's MATH 640? This is linear algebra. I have been told that it is a good class to take if you are an aerospace engineering major, because you need to know the stuff, and though it is not required, it will give you a math minor. Is taking one class at A&M an option, or will that be cost prohibitive or cause other difficulties?

if you're an engineering major, it would behoove you to take your engineering classes (physics, diff eq) at A&M. it'll help you in the long run. because if you are having enough trouble with freshman/sophomore physics that you have to take it at a community college, you're not going to last in engineering.

Some advisors recommend taking physics 208 at a different school. I plan on taking diff eq at A&M, but thought I might as well get some information on it anyway; if the same prof teaches it at Blinn then I can take it a lot cheaper.

math 253 is not differential equations at A&M

Math 251 and Math 253 are both Cal 3
Math 308 is Diff

Community Colleges/ Junior Colleges dont offer 3rd year courses in most majors, because they are 2 year schools.

You wont be able to take a 400 level math class like is required for a minor in math. Linear Algebra is math 311 for Electricals, structurals and meterology majors and its something else for Aerospace engineers, but it still wont get you a minor because you have to take Linear II which is 423 if you wanted to take a linear algebra class for a minor. However, I do not suggest taking that course, I do however suggest you DONT take 208 at A&M, there is only one good teacher that ever teaches it and he rarely does it.

i agree with cheer, if you're going to have to use these classes for the rest of your collegiate career, get them from a&m.

i was horrified of math 142 b/c i had never taken calc, but i took it during the summer and worked my tail off to get a B. i'm glad i did because i used things i learned in that class for the next 3 years.

at blinn, take your hist, poli, econs, etc.
